Located off Casa Ybel Road, this beach is known as Algiers Beach to the locals because of a steamboat by the same name that once docked here. It is a wonderful spot for picnics; there are tables in the shaded expanse. Boardwalks offer comfortable access to the beach. The park has restrooms, barbecue grills, and a sand-washing station.
Bowman’s Beach
Turn left shortly after the fire station off of Sanibel-Captiva Road and head to 1700 Bowman’s Beach Road. This beautiful beach is good for shelling. It has restrooms and change areas and there is ample parking. A flat, easy-to-walk trail takes you to the beach, but it is a 5 – 10-minute walk from the parking lot.
Blind Pass Beach
This beach and parking lot are located on Sanibel-Captiva Road, just before the bridge to Captiva Island. The area is known for ample and excellent shelling but the water currents are much stronger here. From the bridge, or underneath it, this is our second favorite fishing spot – first being off the Sanibel fishing pier next to our Lighthouse. The Blind Pass parking lot is smaller than other beaches and the washroom is a walk over the bridge where there is also limited pay parking on the Captiva side.
Tarpon Bay Beach
Located at 2475 West Gulf Drive (where Tarpon Bay Road meets West Gulf). This wide expanse of beach is perfect for shelling or a stroll. There are also washrooms and shady spots to sit.
Lighthouse Beach Park
Located at the East End of Sanibel Island near our Sanibel Island condo rentals, this beach is accessible via Periwinkle Way. While here you can tour the grounds around the Sanibel Lighthouse, and don’t miss the nearby Sanibel fishing pier – which has its own dedicated parking lot. There is a restroom and change station in the Lighthouse Beach parking lot and outdoor showers to rinse off the sand. Shelling is great and varied from the fishing pier toward Sandalfoot – only one mile up the beach.
