From January to April, bird walks are held every Saturday at locations both on and off the islands. Led by experienced members of the Sanibel-Captiva Audubon Society, the walks are both fun and educational. The walks are open to all participants, from novice to experienced bird watchers.
The Saturday walks begin at 8:00 am and the schedule for the winter walks is below. Walks are free-of-charge, but donations are appreciated. Donations will be accepted for all walks except Ding Darling.
January 18 Pond Apple Trail – meet in the front parking lot of Matzaluna Restaurant. Free parking.
January 25 Ding Darling – meet in overflow parking lot at the Refuge. Free parking.
February 1 Harns Marsh* – located at 38 Street West in Lehigh Acres.
February 8 Bunche Beach – off Island at the end of John Morris Road. Make a right turn at the third traffic light from the toll gate to the beach parking lot. Waterproof shoes a must. Parking fee $2/hour.

March 14 Bailey Tract – Take Island Inn Road across from Bailey’s. Free parking at end of road in field at back entrance to the Bailey Tract.

March 28 Lakes Park – Located at 7330 Gladiolus Drive in Fort Myers. Meet at the far end of parking lot #3. Parking is $1 per hour.
April 4 Lighthouse – Meet in the Fishing Pier parking lot. Non-resident parking is $5 per hour.
*Harns Marsh – Take Colonial Boulevard toward LeHigh Acres. Colonial becomes Lee Boulevard. From Lee Boulevard, turn left onto Sunshine Boulevard. Turn left onto Olive Avenue North. Turn left on 38 Street West. Harns Marsh is at the end of the road.
