CROW’s 35th annual “Taste of the Islands”
Foodies of all ages are ready to greet the return of “Taste of the Islands” on Sunday, Nov. 13.
The 35th annual event, held from noon to 5 p.m. at Sanibel Community Park, benefits CROW (Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife). The popular festival attracts 4,000 visitors and is well-supported by dozens of area volunteers.
At this year’s “Taste” event, many Sanibel and Captiva restaurants will offer an array of their signature menu items for $5 and under. Admission to the food festival is $5 for adults and free to children under age 12.
Event proceeds support CROW’s care and treatment of wildlife through state-of-the-art veterinary work, research, education, and conservation medicine.
Formed in the late 1960s by local volunteers, CROW today treats more than 200 species of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife patients in its renowned veterinary hospital, a leader in rehabilitating native and migratory wildlife. Undergraduate and veterinarian graduate students participate in fellowship and externship and internship programs at CROW, which also educates the public through presentations, exhibits and live video footage at its Healing Winds Visitor Education Center.
