Frequently Asked Questions

Sanibel Island is a hidden gem in Florida with breathtaking white sand beaches, plenty of outdoor activities, and it is easy to get around the island. It is quiet and secluded and there are multiple attractions to explore. If you plan on traveling to Sanibel Island we can help you find your ideal vacation condo with the amenities you are looking for. We also can provide you with information about the island and answer any questions you may have about traveling here and the best things to do.

What is provided in the unit?

Each unit will be fully equipped to prepare all meals within the condo. There is a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, and garbage disposal in each unit. All cookware, dishes, glasses, cooking utensils, and silverware are provided.

We provide a starter kit of paper goods, dishwashing liquid, and dishwasher tablets, along with coffee, tea, cream, and sugar for your first cup in the morning.

Sheets and towels are provided, including towels for the beach. Each condo has a drying rack on the lanai for swimsuits and towels and beach chairs are provided to take to the beach. Many condos provide extras such as coolers, fishing gear, umbrellas, books, games and DVD’s.

We have washers and dryers

Each building has a washer and dryer on the second floor. The machines are free of charge to use. Some of the condos at Sandalfoot also have a washer and dryer in the unit. Please inquire about these units with the office staff.

Is smoking permitted?

Sandalfoot is a smoke-free property. No smoking is allowed in the units or on the lanais or building walkways, nor by the pool. Smoking is allowed only on the grassy areas away from the buildings. Sanibel ordinance does not prohibit smoking at the beach.

Are pets allowed?

Guests are not allowed to bring pets with the exception of pre-approved service animals. Owners, while staying in their unit, are allowed to have their pets on the property.

What if we arrive after the office is closed?

If you arrive after 4:30 p.m., your keys will be in a labeled envelope in the black lockbox to the right of the front office door. The code to open the box is emailed when you make your final payment. An after-hours answering service is available to assist, if needed.

How do you get to Sandalfoot? What is the closest airport?

Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is closest to Sanibel Island and to Sandalfoot. From the airport take Alico Road to Highway 75N. Exit at Daniels Parkway West and then turn left onto Six Mile Cypress Parkway. The road becomes Summerlin. Merge left for Sanibel Island and continue straight.

(Note: $6 toll to cross the causeway to the Island.) On-island, continue straight (through the 4-way stop). Turn left at East Gulf Drive and we are about ½ mile down on the right (aka the beachside) of the road.

Where are the restaurants and stores on Sanibel?

Most of the Sanibel Island restaurants and shopping centers are on Periwinkle Way, which is the main east-west road through Sanibel. Of our East End neighbors, we recommend breakfast at the Lighthouse Café or the grouper sandwich at Gramma Dot’s/Sanibel Marina.

What is there to do on Sanibel Island?

Sanibel boasts the perfect combination of beautiful beaches and an endless supply of engaging things to see and do. In addition to the miles of beaches, Sanibel has 24 miles of paved bike paths. There are two golf courses, a number of boat excursions, fishing charters, and kayak and paddleboard rentals available on the island. Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, the Historical Village, Captiva Village, and CROW Wildlife Refuge are open to the public. Have we mentioned shelling? Junonia? Lions Paw? Baby’s Ear? All have been found while shelling between Sandalfoot and the Sanibel Island Lighthouse and Sanibel Fishing Pier!
