Sanibel Before the Causeway premieres February 10th
A documentary film capturing life on Sanibel before the causeway opened in 1963 will be presented at the Sanibel Community House on February 10th at 7:00 pm. The film shows a glimpse of Sanibel life in the 1940’s and 1950’s when 400 residents called Sanibel home and the only way to get here was the ferry. Rare historical footage shows an island that looks very different from today’s Sanibel. Filmed and produced by Emmy Award winner David E. Carter, the film includes narration by Charles LeBuff, a resident in one of the Sanibel Lighthouse homes and a “Ding” Darling Refuge employee, and Bob Sabatino, a local fishing guide for 50 years. The event is being sponsored by Pfeifer Realty Group.
Tickets can be obtained in advance, and it is recommended that tickets be purchased soon since the event will sell out. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at The Community House, Pfeifer Realty Group, Bailey’s General Store and Sanibel Art & Frame. One hundred percent of the proceeds from ticket sales are going to The Sanibel Community House and will be directed to the Community House capital campaign 2016. Click here to view more.
